![]() I was looking for an alternative to Quicken because they moved to a subscription service and Moneyspire's program is not a subscription. This would be great for someone who only has a few accounts and needs some way of tracking their expenses - but I have many accounts and investments. Looking to move from Quicken? Currently, Moneyspire offers a free trial period. I still rate this software as 4 stars (if Amazon allowed it, I would rate it as 4-1/2 stars), and I am still glad I made the switch. ![]() It has taken me a while to get used to it. (2) Balancing my accounts is a little more confusing than it was with Quicken. Using the Enter key to advance fields is so much easier and efficient than having to use the Tab key. Here's two of them - (1) It would be nice to set the Enter key to work like the Tab key, which many software apps allow. On the minus side, there are a few minor things (and I stress the word "minor") that could be better. I got a prompt answer that included screen shots to show me exactly what to do. I had to email their support group with a question. On the plus side, their help is excellent. UPDATE: I've now been using the software for a few weeks. If you're looking to get out from under Quicken's subscription plan, give this product a try. Overall impression after using the software for a very short time - I like it. It does much more, but I will be unlikely to use many of the more advanced features, so I don't feel qualified to comment on them. For those of you who need more features than a basic user like me needs, don't be turned off my by review, thinking that Moneyspire only does the simple things like the Quicken Starter Edition. Hopefully, that will continue until I get used to the software. However, so far, I have found all of the answers I needed in the help file that comes with the software. Turns out that the features in Moneyspire are similar to the version of Quicken I was using, which lessened (but didn't eliminate) the learning curve. The transfer was not perfect, I did have to make some manual adjustments, but mostly this consisted of adjusting some starting balances so that my totals came out right and cleaning up some categories. I struggled a little bit with exporting my data from Quicken, but after making a few mistakes, I finally got the job done. I downloaded the software from Amazon, entered the license key, and was ready to start. It appeared to have similar features to the version of Quicken I've been using, and it was on sale, so I purchased a copy. So, I started looking around to see what other personal finance software is available, and I found Moneyspire. My software is old and I would like to upgrade, but for what it would cost me on their subscription plan, there is no way I can get my money's worth out of the deal. I was really disappointed when Quicken switched to a subscription plan. ![]() My needs are simple, and the Starter Edition gave me all of the features that I cared about. I have used the Quicken Starter Edition on a Windows PC for many years. ![]() To learn more about how and for what purposes Amazon uses personal information (such as Amazon Store order history), please visit our Privacy Notice.
